The Kirk Brummel Collection of fine woven textiles – a division of Brunschwig & Fils worldwide – comprises a myriad of designs under the artistic direction of Michael Brummel, an American designer who began building his vision of style and luxury in New York in the late 1960s. Mr. Brummel’s travels took him to Vienna, where he was influenced by Secessionist and Wiener Werkstatte and to Paris, where he was inspired by the work of the International Modernists.
Visually and technically innovative, these designs combine bold abstract patterns with unusual colours, resulting in fabrics that are a delight to the eye and warm to the touch. Woven in mills around the world, they favour natural fibers such as linen, silk and cotton; at times integrating the addition of mixed constructions for strength and textural interest.
"Just Now", launched in Fall ’05, and "Contemporary Living", just launched in Spring’06, represent the newest additions to the KB collection since worldwide exclusive distribution rights were acquired by Brunschwig & Fils. Reflecting the influence of contemporary art, the collections make a nod to the modernist movement while projecting an ever-forward look to the future.
